Artist Statement

After thirty years of exploring the many facets of Surrealism, I decided last year to forage into a more conventional means of artistic expression, that being still life painting. Thanks to my good friend Mike Bonnano, I was fortunate to be exposed to and trained in, the traditions of the Boston School – members of whom often employ the aptly named 'sight-size' method. This time honored approach has a long history which can be traced back to its European roots in the 19th Century. My first attempt at sight-size was Doritos. Last year, Dunkin and Winton were completed (see below). I hope to post more on the method and my latest works.
